I am kind…I am
smart…I am important.
My sister and I
watched the movie The Help a couple weekends ago. It is still sticking with me.
I love a book or
movie that you keep thinking about long after you are finished with it. The
Help had so many messages in it from the poor treatment of blacks in the 1960’s
to having enough self-confidence to do the right thing, whether that is to
treat people of all colors kindly or leave an abusive relationship.
I have never
understood why some people are just plain mean to others for no reason. I am
sure it makes them feel powerful…but I don’t get it. People who are kind to
everyone are the true heroes.
Abilene reminded
me of my mom. She tried to instill some self-confidence in that poor little
girl whose mother was more concerned about her social activities with the mean
girls than her children.
Watching this
movie came at a good time for me. I have been thinking about going back to work
outside of the house. It’s been 19 years since I have been out there. I need a
lot of self-confidence to do that.
I am kind…I am
smart…I am important!
Life has been super crazy with making Homecoming floats, shopping for dresses, shoes and ties, applying to colleges and writing essays. I promise to get back to a regular schedule of blogs and man Candy!
