Release your inner Pussycat Doll!!!!!!!

Tuesday night I started taking a Burlesque class at Miss. Pole. Some friends have said that they could NEVER do that; they would be self conscious and embarrassed. Well sometimes you have to step outside of your comfort zone and try something new. It is an exercise class too, by the way. I have to admit that at first I had hoped that one of my friends would sign up with me, but I wouldsbe mor self conscious if someone I knew was there.

I have always loved Burlesque, even before the Pussycat Dolls review was produced by Robin Antin. I wish I could have seen the Dolls live. There are many Burlesque reviews in Las Vegas too. I want to be a Pussy Cat Doll when I grow up.

The instructor Jessie is amazing! She is freaking hilarious and very informative in teaching more than the moves. She has explained to us how Burlesque is different than Lap Dancing and Pole Dancing. Burlesque is more subtle. You are teasing and alluding to the goodies, not just “Here they are! Look at my girls!” We learned how to make “Betty (Page) arms” and “Dita (von Teese) arms”.
The class is made up of all different sizes and shapes of girls. There are only two girls that would be considered skinny. Everyone was way too worried about what they were doing to watch what anyone else was doing. Surprisingly, unlike a traditional dance studio the walls were not lined with mirrors. That is okay because I don’t like to watch myself.
The favorite part for me is that I am learning something I have always been interested in and I am stepping out of my comfort zone by taking this class and possibly opening me up to the humiliation of others. One of my friends who is pretty outgoing said she could never do it. If I can do it anyone can do it. I think it is empowering to move outside of that comfortable little cozy cocoon and try something you have always wanted to do but have been afraid. I have pushed myself out of my box before. I used to be a reader at mass. At first I was very nervous about getting up in front of an entire church of people to read the word of The Lord. It got easier and easier and I became more confident, especially when people complimented me.  I was more concerned about remembering when to go up to the ambo. I have taken ballroom dance as an adult too. I may not be awesome but I love it! My Other - Mom M. decided she would sky dive when her daughter decided to do it for her 30th birthday. She did it and said it was amazing, although she would never do it again she was very happy she did it!
Sign up for Tap or Ballroom dance. Take a writing or an art class. Learn another language. Take your dream vacation.
Life is too short to sit around and dream about doing things. Get out there and let YOUR inner Pussycat or whatever out and enjoy!

Man Candy Monday!!!!!!!!

Mmmmm...Today's ymuuy sip of hawt chocolate is Shemar Moore. I had more trouble finding pics of the delectable Shemar WITH his clothes on that shirtless! The luscious actor has been on Criminal Minds since 2005. Before that he starred on The Young and the Restless. He has also appeared in Tyler Perry's Diary of a Mad Black Woman, and The Brothers, which I have caught on cable and was a good film that was also chockfull of Man Candy goodness. He has a killer smile, show his six-pack off and relax on the beach drinking Patron! My kind of man!!  Enjoy this yummy steaming cup of hawt chocolate!

What kind of taste are they trying to make?

I get an email every day from a place called “One Kings Lane”. They offer different sales every day ranging from stationery and frames to what they call “Tastemaker Tag Sales” that are Interior Designers selling stuff from their shops or warehouses. I can NOT believe what these “Tastemakers” consider vintage let alone good taste!

Included in the selection today were “vintage” metal spring clothes pins. A set of 20 for $45! Seriously? Let me go in my laundry room! I have an entire freaking bucket of them! I had no idea these were so rare! I could probably make a good $70 here.

This “Mid Century Danish Lounge Chair” is listed for $949! That is right! Nine hundred and forty-nine dollars for this ugly piece of ‘60’s flowered chair rescued from the curb! Let’s all run to our parents’ or grandparents’ homes and find their vintage chairs! Although they may be avocado or gold velvet they are vintage! Mid Century bitch!
This “Mid century coffee table” for $469 is almost identical to the kidney shaped one Kit and I had in our college town house in 1985. Had we known one day we would be able to ask $469 for it I am sure one of us would have kept it so we could sell it to fund our kids’ college tuition. I am sure the driftwood lamp we had would fetch a pretty penny too.
They had “Blueberry boxes”, two for $99. I think pop and all kinds of other things were transported in these boxes. I know we used to have one.  A selection of assorted “Occasional” tables started at $200! I just brought one home that I had been storing at the Michalak homestead that we got from Big Daddy’s great-aunt’s house. I have other similar items from his grandma’s home too.
I absolutely need to find one of these Tastemaker designers when we are ready to sell the homestead. Mommy loved “Danish Modern” and I have seen similar dinning sets and buffets listed for $5000-$6000! I could be in the money!!! I think I need to have my own Tastemaker Tag Sale!  It will be all Danish Modern, Occasional tables and assorted oil paintings. I will add some Vintage silver and china -- if the 1970’s are considered vintage now. I am just sick thinking of all of the fabulous Tastemaking items we filled a dumpster with when we cleaned out their garage years back.

I shake my head when I see some of the things they are selling and the prices! You just know they went to old people’s garage or estate sales and combed the Salvation Army store. And I am still not quite sure what kind of taste they are making…It looks like some pretty bad “Mid Century” 1950- 1960’s taste to me.

Man Candy Monday on Tuesday!!!!

I didn't forget...I started a project and it became more involved than I imagined, considering I was interupted 85 times...then it was time to go to the library board meeting...when I came home I had to help The Prince edit his English homework...then I was exhausted...sorry for the wait loves!

John Stamos has always been hot. Uncle Jesse could get me to eat his freaking Oikos yougurt any time! Or play doctor with him. Young or old he is hot...his huge outie belly button is slightly disturbing. And I can't believe how few shirtless pics there were of him! Enjoy some Greek hotness!!!

Fate...

I think everything happens in life for a reason. We probably will never know what that reason is, but I truly believe fate is a huge factor.  For example… My bff Kit and I met 28 years ago when we went through Sorority Rush. A mutual friend of ours said, “Oh maybe you will meet Kit! She is going through Rush and maybe you will meet?” I was like yeah okay…there are 500 girls going through Rush. I doubt it.  Well we ended up pledging the same house and have been bff’s ever since.
Kit kept yapping about a friend of her boy friend’s (now her hubby Uncle Pokey). It turned out that two of my friends I grew up with met Big Daddy at their college freshman year and told me about him. I said he sounded like fun and I would love to meet him. Then sorority, frat boy bf and school were going on and I totally forgot about him.
Kit Uncle Pokey brought him up to NIU to go out to the bars. I had all new roommates and I was lonely. I was so excited! He was so cute and funny! We went for drinks to the Crystal Pistol, the lounge at a hotel in De Kalb we liked. They had free food at Happy Hour. We danced to “Take My Breath Away” by Berlin. (The love song from Top Gun). That was it. Boom.

Big Daddy and I celebrated 25 years of being together Labor Day weekend. I can NOT believe I have been with this man more than half of my life! That is a fucking long time. Where did they last 25 years go? Where the hell did these teenagers come from? It all just happens way to quick.
I love this man more than anything. I know he loves me too. Yeah, he gets on my last nerve and can be crabby, etc… But I love him. We have been through hell together and have always fought to make it through everything that has stood in our way. Miscarriages, infertility, raising our kids, his Smother, my parents getting sick and dying, he puts up with my older sister and helps me deal take care of her. I could never ask for a better partner or father to my kids and little dogs.
I am his Down Ass Bitch. I would do anything for this man. Ride or die Big Daddy, ride or die…There is no other choice. Fate put us together.
